I cannot believe it's already December, it really snuck up on me this year! I hope you are all enjoying the "winter weather" and holiday season so far. Today I'm sharing a lovely holiday shoot with the Fletcher*s. As you can see in these pictures their family is so full of love! I have known Jessica (Mrs. Fletcher) for most of my life, so being able to capture her enjoying her family is really priceless. Enjoy, and have a peaceful evening.

"First brewed in England and exported for the British troops in India during the late 1700s. To withstand the voyage, IPA's were basically tweaked Pale Ales that were, in comparison, much more malty, boasted a higher alcohol content and were well-hopped, as hops are a natural preservative. Historians believe that an IPA was then watered down for the troops, while officers and the elite would savor the beer at full strength. The English IPA has a lower alcohol due to taxation over the decades. The leaner the brew the less amount of malt there is and less need for a strong hop presence which would easily put the brew out of balance. Some brewers have tried to recreate the origianl IPA with strengths close to 8-9% abv."

My husband and I went on a pretty cool trip during our Spring Break this year. We spent time in Washington, Annapolis, and Delaware. (More on that in future posts) Spring break for us was in early March, so I did not expect to see Cherry Blossoms blooming in Washington since their peak this year was late March/early April. To my surprise, I got see quite a few! They were mostly just starting to bloom so I'll have to go back some day to see the Mall covered in fully blossomed trees, but take a peek at the few I was able to capture. Enjoy.

I'm so happy to share that a few weeks back I got to take my best friend's maternity pictures.
Jessica and Colt are such an amazing couple and I am so excited to share these with you. We took some of the photos here in Miami, but some were also taken in Orlando, where they call home. In just one month their lives will be transformed as they welcome a little baby girl into this world.

While shooting in a park in Orlando, we got to see this beautiful baby owl. So cool!

A few weeks ago I not only reunited with an old friend of mine, but I also had the opportunity to take some shots of her two gorgeous (and hilarious!) daughters. I hadn't seen Brianna and Becky since they were both so small, and it floored me to see how fast they've grown up. We spent our morning at South Pointe park, and ended at Shake Shack. (yum!) Enjoy these fun and simple portraits!

Hello there. Last night I took the time to make some Bruschetta with the tomatoes we picked on Saturday. After the Bruschetta was made I still had a lot of basil leftover, so I made some pesto too! I told you I'd post my simple recipe so here it is! (plus the pesto one) Enjoy!

Bruschetta:

3-4 medium tomatoes, diced
1/3 cup basil, chopped
3 tbs olive oil
2 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped
salt and pepper to taste

Mix it all up and serve however you'd like!
I had mine over whole wheat angel hair....yum

Pesto:

1/4 cup pine nuts
2 cups basil, chopped
1/4 cup parmesan, grated
2 tbs olive oil
2 tbs lemon juice
1 tbs water
salt and pepper to taste

Throw it in a food processor, and blend until smooth.
Serve it however you'd like. I had it over a toasted baguette,
but you can use it for chicken or pasta...anything really. :)

This morning my husband and I woke up and took a small road trip down south to Knaus berry farm in the Redlands.
It's always a pleasure to visit them, pick strawberries, and indulge in some of their organic goodies that are -made with ingredients grown on their farm or other local farms. Today they had tomatoes and fresh herbs to pick, so I got enough to make a delicious bruschetta! I'll post my recipe, and some pics of the final product soon. Enjoy!

It's incredible how time flies. It feels like just yesterday my little cousin Mariana was in elementary school, and here she is, all grown up! She turns 15 next year and wanted to take some unconventional, natural photos that captured her personality.

We really had a lot of fun with this. Honestly, it was a piece of cake, just look at her...she is gorgeous!

This is the wonderful, unique, and loving Agatstein family.
I've known Leila for quite a few years now and have watched her family grow

Hello out there, I hope every one has had a wonderful start to the new year so far. Can you believe it's nearly the end of January already! Today I had the opportunity to spend some time with my good friend Barb. (www.photographybybmh.com) We went shooting all around the Miami Beach area, but specifically the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. This garden is significant to me because this is the garden where I got married. This field trip was so nice to do because Barb was my wedding photographer, and we've stayed friends ever since. Shooting around with other people is fun because although we're in the same place, and sometimes even looking at the same subject, we come up with very different things. I love it! Just wanted to take a moment and wish you all [ whoever reads this :) ] a very merry Christmas.
I have had a great time keeping up the blog this year and I hope to post much more next year.
Currently, I work full time and I am also a full time student so time is limited...but this is my refuge
from the day to day normalcy. Have a wonderful Christmas night everyone. It's a good day, and I am thankful.

P.s. My husband and I made that snowman right outside the Field Museum in Chicago last week! The snowman is only about a foot tall, but he is handsome nonetheless!

Falling slowly.

Fall is around the corner already, and this is my favorite time of year.
(Although we don't have much of a
seasonal transition here in Miami, FL)
Anyways, in anticipation I decided to make lovely pumpkin loaf.
Feel free to try this at home, substitute any ingredients to your liking.

What you need:

1½ cups brown rice flour
¼ rice bran (for added fiber, optional)
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
4 egg whites
1¼ cup lt. brown sugar
½ tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. cinnamon
¾ cups pumpkin puree (if you can't make your own, the canned stuff works)
¾ cup apple sauce
½ cup pumpkin seeds (optional)

What to do:

-350 degree oven. Combine the flour, bran, baking soda, baking powder and
salt, set aside.

-Beat egg whites, sugar, and vanilla in large bowl on
high speed for about 30 seconds.

-Add dry ingredients and mix well.

-Add pumpkin and apple sauce and mix well.

-Pour batter into a prepared (buttered or "pam" sprayed, whatever you like best) loaf pan.

-If you decide to use pumpkin seeds, crush them a little and sprinkle over the loaf before baking.

-Bake for about an hour, let it cool, and enjoy!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of taking some unconventional engagement photos for the soon to be Fox family.
We went all over...from Hollywood beach/boardwalk, to 7-11 (it was free slurpee day!),
to a lovely park and then finally ended the shoot at Jaxon's icecream parlor! Needless to say it was a fun-filled day.

Banana Chocolate Chip.

I'm always trying to find ways of making healthy alternatives to everyday favorites and comfort foods. One of my husband's favorites (and mine too!) is my reduced fat, high fiber banana chocolate chip bread.

This blog is not like my other blogs. Not only can you enjoy some foodtography, but here is my recipe just in case you'd like to try this at home:

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup brown sugar or turbinado
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup applesauce
1/4 cup margarine
2 egg whites
1/2 cup skim milk
2 ripe bananas (the riper the better)
3/4 cup chocolate chips

mix the dry ingredients
then blend in the wet ingredients
mix in bananas and choc chips

bake in a (pam sprayed) loaf pan at 350 for about an hour
and voila

Optional:

Before baking, top with a swirl of honey and granola.

On saturday I had the privilege of taking these wonderful sweet 16 pictures for my new friend Aleks. She is so sweet and very beautiful. It was so much fun capturing her personality in this original session. I am still working on them (there are so many good ones!) but here is a collage of a few from that day.

Today is my good friend Jesse's birthday! To celebrate him turning 23, we took these Saturday Night Live inspired photos. By SNL inspired I'm talking about the photos that are taken of the celebrity hosting each episode. I don't know if you watch Saturday Night Live or not, but if you do, you might know what I'm talking about. I have always found myself thinking "Those are some cool pics!" and considering my friend Jesse is an SNL fan and quite funny himself I found these to be a perfect fit. Happy Birthday Jesse!

Whether you're visiting a country where you are not fluent in the language or you just don't feel like bothering a passing stranger you do not have to skip the opportunity to capture a great moment. The timers on my cameras are my best friends! These are some of my favorite shots that I've taken with the timer. I will say, you might get some weird stares as you run into position but who cares! And by the way, I've NEVER used a tripod! (unless my purse counts!)

I am so excited for my sister-in-law, Manuela. Today she graduated from nursing school so technically she is Manuela, RN. So, what does this have to do with my photo blog? Well, I took some of her pictures today. She had the greatest idea! She wanted to recreate the famous 1940's photo of V-J Day, where a sailor spontaneously kisses a nurse in the middle of Times Square at the end of WWII. This picture features Manuela and her husband, Joan. It isn't in Times Square, and he's not a sailor...but you get the point! To the left is the original, to the right....our modern version.

Earlier this year I had the privilege of taking Oneida & Lidio's engagement and wedding photos! It was so exciting and fun to capture them having a great time together. This was very special for me because not only is she a dear friend/co-worker of mine but this was also my first engagement shoot and my first wedding! :) Enjoy.

Ever since I got married a few years back, my husband and I have made it a point to travel as much as we can. We're always trying to save up, and dream up different adventures.
